Friday July 3rd, 2pm-5pm

A community workshop from Gina Melosi.

Last year I was invited to Bosnia as a UK delegate, to learn about the horrors of genocide and pledge to fight against intolerance and hatred upon my return. As a result, for my pledge I started a community jewellery art project in collaboration with the charitable initiative Remembering Srebrenica and partner Capella Ltd. The aim is to teach 8,372 (this is the number of men killed in the massacre) people from all different communities and walks of life basic jewellery skills and raise awareness of the Srebrenica Genocide. Each participant will create one snowflake out of recycled silver; each snowflake will be paired with one life that was lost. The snowflakes will become part of a greater art installation in the future.

This will be a 3 hour workshop, including documentary and project introduction. All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary.
