London Mexico Solidarity is London-based grassroots collective committed to supporting social and environmental struggles, justice and democracy in Mexico. We have put together a photographic exhibition of the work we have been doing here in London over the past few years and some photos from a frontline Zapatista community in Mexico. The Arpillera embroidery we created with the help of Wretched of the Earth, Movimiento Jaguar Despierto, Expression Inka, and BP or Not BP? and our protests banners.

We are lucky enough to have a very talented musician visiting from Mexico, playing classical Mexican guitar. An Uruguayan / British acoustic guitarist will also be playing protest songs. Colombian / British queer poet/singer will also be reciting. Pre-hispanic dancers. Mexican crafts will also be for sale by LMS, including Zapatista bookmarks, posters, and stickers. The Hive runs their own cafe. They don’t have a license so its BYOB.

This is an awareness-raising event for the culture&creativity coming from Mexico, and it’s the first in a seires of events that we are hosting during september in the context of the second anniversary of the enforced disappearance of the 43 students from Ayotzinapa.
