Keep the Coal in the Hole! Film and speaker night

Tues Apr 12th

7.15pm

“NO NEW COAL” has been the clarion call of social movements organising for climate justice for the last decade. In the UK, these networks used a succesful diversity of tactics to ensure a new generation of coal-fired power stations were never built – including Kingsnorth power station in Kent. Yet British companies continue to dig up the last remaining coal deposits from huge open cast mines in South Wales and Northumberland – as well importing large quantities from Russia and Colombia.
Find out the human and ecological impacts of the UK’s ongoing addiction to coal and the growing international resistance to its extraction.

We’ll discuss plans for a creative, mass action to shut down Ffos-y-Fran open cast coal mine in Methry Tydfil from 30 April – 4 May at END COAL NOW – Reclaim the Power Action Camp 2016 as well as the Ende Gelende action in Germany later in the Spring.
Speakers, films and action planning with Reclaim the Power and Coal Action Network.
