Hoop x Dance is a series of werkshops that integrates the art hula hooping with dance encouraging creativity with our bodies, fun fitness, and performance ablitiy.

Who is this for?
Are you intrigued? You don’t need to know how to dance OR hoop! We welcome absolutely EVERYONE…
Dancers, nondancers, hoopers, nonhoopers, men, women, genderqueers, fitness freaks, dancehall queen…if you’re ready then that’s ALL!

What is Hoop x Dancehall?
The continuation of our Hoop x Dance series moves onto DANCEHALL! In this workshop you will learn popular dancehall moves fused into new hoop dance and tricks. With a carefully selected dancehall playlist, you will learn how to winewinewine with a prop and have a good time doing it! Throughout you will learn mini choreographies and activities to help you feel confident performing – but expect a full body workout!

HOOP PRINCESS FROM PLANET WUTEVER
Teacher, Choreographer & Performer – Symoné
Symoné is a professional hula hoop performer and instructor, cabaret artist and rollarskater. . She currently holds a Guinness World Record with The Majorettes for ‘most hoops spun simultaneously as a group’, she can spin 40 hoops on her tiny body at once! She currently works with UK Rollagirls, Chivaree Circus, The Majorettes, as well as a solo artist. In the past she has had the opportunity to work with Sun Ra’s Arkestra, Omi & Machel Montano, Rookie Magazine, Jon Hopkins, Kensington Palace, Dell, Glastonbury festival, and many more.
She loves teaching, keeping the class upbeat and fun and deeply believes everyone can hoop if they give themselves so patience! http://www. symoneperformingartist.com/

DANCEHALL QWEEN:
Teacher, Choreographer & Performer Sophia Mackay
Born in London to Sierra Leonean parentage but raised in Barbados, Sophia likes to describe herself as a kaleidoscope of culture.
Sophia started her journey in performance at “Praise Academy of Dance Barbados’ where she learned Caribbean Folk and Ballet, and Dancehall at the dance school’s nightclub where she was scouted.
As a dancer, she has toured Jamaica and Barbados with the award winning group GenerationNext, and in the UK she is part of the dancehall fusion group ‘Invasion Dancers’ that was Tim Westwoods official dancers and has danced alongside artists such as Nikita, Machel Montano, Wik Kid, Lil Rick, Nikisha Reyes, Charly Black, RDX and Spice.
In 2015 Sophia founded her Theatre and Arts company Zaiah Productions and also started her music career combining the genres of soca, Afrobeats and Jazz.
