On May 27, the Hive will host an Afro Roots Festival. A colourful finale to the week’s Africa Week Dalston festivities: djs, live music and performances (and food, drink and fashion) with African roots.

Hosted by Eric Fenomeno Show of Open the Gate, the night of Afro Roots performances features live music from Congolese party starters Kasai Masai, Senegalese sensations Abdoulaye Samb and Minnjiaraby, and Jamaican chart toppers Scratchylus and Empress Reggae alongside Benny B-Sides. There’ll also be the competition winner of the Afro Music Talent Contest, supported by Bonafide Magazine.

Click here for more info on Africa Week Dalston and the talent competition supported by Bonafide Magazine.

You’ll be able to get the look with African fashion and jewellery on sale from local designers, and there’ll be fresh food Senegal and Barbados, thanks to Little Baobab and Ridley Road Market father and son duo, David and Deano. The beers will be cold and the cocktails fresh on the terrace.

Brought together in collaboration between Hackney Roots and Africa Fete.
